The Button Box was first created by Jane Beck in the 1980's after choosing to enter the Antique Button world a couple of years after her Husband Bruce's Grandmother Viviane Ertell passed away. Viviane, along with her Husband George, were known antique and antique button dealers all over the world. They had two antique shops in New York City and Two in Paris France. They scowered the European market to bring back to the U.S, the most beautiful and rare button examples from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Jane and Bruce continued in their footsteps and have since that time continued to bring to the collecting button field a beautiful array of fine button examples. After Jane's passing in 2013 Bruce continued to sell. collect and offer these fine examples to the button collecting field.
In 2015 Tin Dang a native of Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam and transplant to Alexandria Virginia, was interested in pursuing his interests in antiques and through the encouragement of a mutual friend, joined Bruce in partnership to continue bringing buttons and antiques to the general public, at both button and antique shows nationwide, and the auctions online at Lion and Unicorn.
Bruce has given numerous lectures/programs and written many articles for various publications on the subject of Antique buttons. He is on the board of the Florida State Button Society, the Western Regional Button Society and is also Chairman of the Special Exhibits committee for the National Button Society.

In 2017 a friend of Bruce's, Arron Rimpley, owner of an already thriving antique business in Dania Beach Fla. wanted to start an auction company as an addition. Bruce helped him to to create and start Whitley's Auctioneers and eventually bring button collections to the auction block. Today we continue to offer a vast variety of antiques and collectibles at auction, including several button auctions each year under the Lion and Unicorn name. We are located in South Florida and Orlando Florida.
